Simple and Standard Are Not Pricing Tiers — Both Are 100% Free
KasbPro has a Light (Simple) mode and a Standard (Full) mode. Neither costs anything. Here is what they actually control, and the short, exact list of what is genuinely paid.

A specific confusion comes up often enough that it deserves its own page: KasbPro has a "Light (Simple)" mode and a "Standard (Full)" mode, and people reasonably assume one of those must be the free version and the other the paid one. It is a sensible guess — that is how most software works. It is also wrong, and worth correcting plainly rather than leaving people to guess.
The short answer
Light and Standard are both entirely free. Switching between them costs nothing, can be done as many times as you want, and neither one unlocks or removes anything you pay for. What actually costs money is a short, specific list of features — covered exactly below — and that list is the same regardless of which mode you are in.
What mode actually controls
Mode is a display setting, not a billing setting. It answers one question: how much of the app do you want to see at once?
- Light (Simple) keeps entry forms short — just the fields you need to record a transaction — and starts you with the essentials: Income, Expenses, Accounts, Transfers, Contacts, Documents, Inventory and basic Reports. Everything else stays out of your menu until you want it.
- Standard (Full) shows every detail field on every form — tax, branch, project, the works — and switches on every module: Payroll, Recurring, Payable & Receivable, CRM, Projects, Roles, Advanced Reports.
Neither description mentions payment, because there isn't one. This is about cognitive load on day one, not access.
You can mix and match, and nothing is ever deleted
Mode is not all-or-nothing. On Light mode, you can turn on just one specific thing — CRM, say, or Payroll — from Settings → Features, without switching your whole account to Standard. On Standard mode, you can turn off anything you don't personally need the same way. Switching modes, or toggling an individual feature, only changes what is visible. Your data is never touched, and nothing you have already entered disappears if you hide a feature — turn it back on and it is exactly as you left it.
This extends further than the two-mode toggle, too: KasbPro actually unlocks features progressively as your business grows — a four-stage journey from "money in, money out" through invoicing, then payroll, then CRM and advanced reporting — and every one of those stages is free to reach, whether it unlocks automatically because you started using it or you turn it on manually whenever you want.
So what actually is paid
Here is the complete list, stated once and precisely, because vagueness here is exactly what causes the confusion in the first place. Pro is $49/year, billed yearly only, and adds:
- AI Accountant — chat with your books in plain language (requires your own AI provider API key; KasbPro doesn't bundle AI provider costs into the $49).
- AI receipt and voucher scanning — auto-fill an expense from a photographed receipt.
- Document uploads, synced to your own Google Drive.
- Advanced Reports — Budget vs Actual, Tax/VAT summary, Branch/Project P&L.
- Draft Audit Report — your statements compiled into a PDF/Word pack (a draft compilation, not an actual audit).
- Automated backups — an unattended monthly export by email, or a weekly/monthly snapshot pushed straight into your Google Drive once it's connected. Generating that same export yourself, on demand, stays free — see the wrinkle below.
- AI CRM coach, plus priority support.
That's it. Nothing else in KasbPro — not the ledger, not invoicing, not payroll, not inventory, not CRM, not the core financial statements, not team member seats — is gated by plan. Both modes give you full access to everything on this list; mode only decides whether the menu item for it is visible by default.
The honest wrinkles worth knowing
There is a specific detail worth being precise about, because it is exactly the kind of thing that causes a support ticket otherwise: turning on the "Advanced Reports" module in Settings → Features (which is free, and available in either mode) makes the Advanced Reports menu item reachable. It does not, by itself, make Budget vs Actual or Tax/VAT usable — that page separately checks whether your company is on Pro, the same way every other Pro feature does. Turning the module on is about visibility; the underlying entitlement is still decided by your plan. If you turn it on and hit an upgrade prompt, that is working as intended, not a bug.
The other one: exporting your data is always free — scheduling it to happen automatically, without you, is what's Pro. Click "Export" in Data Export and generate a CSV or JSON of everything, any time, no limit, on either mode. Turn on the "send this by email every month" toggle, or connect Google Drive and pick a weekly/monthly backup frequency, and that's the unattended version — the one item on the Pro list above. Same data, same format; the difference is entirely whether a human clicked the button.
Why we split it this way
Mode exists to reduce how much a first-time founder has to look at before recording their first sale — not to gate revenue. Plan exists because a handful of specific features cost us real, ongoing money per use (LLM calls, stored files, generated documents), and those are the only things we ask you to pay for. Conflating the two would mean either charging for something that costs us nothing to serve, or hiding something that genuinely does cost money behind a UI toggle that looks free. Neither is honest, so we kept them separate.
